Rama Rau is an award winning filmmaker who trained in films on one of the largest film sets in Mumbai, India. Now based in Toronto, Canada, Rama makes films that move easily between different continents and offer a global perspective with a local flavor. Spanning fiction, non-fiction and digital media, Rama’s stories are intimate yet universal, character-driven and mostly about people who are marginalized by mass media. Rama is in development on two feature documentaries at present, THE DAUGHTER TREE, about the disquieting rise in secret abortions and growing imbalance of the number of women in India and LEAGUE OF EXOTIQUE DANCERS, a film about aging burlesque dancers who were once Legends in Las Vegas.

Rama’s dramatic short film AFTERMATH, a poetic look into the horror of the terrorist attack in Mumbai, had its World Premiere at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival’s Court Metrages. Her feature documentary, THE MARKET (2010) has been nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards for 2013 – the prestigious Donald Brittain Award for Best Social Political Documentary and Best Original Music. The film had its World Premiere at IDFA Amsterdam 2010, where it screened to a full house. Having screened at more than thirty international film festivals across the world, including the Prague International Festival, THE MARKET is a never-before journey into the dangerous underworld of illegal international organ trade and was filmed across Canada and India over three intense years.

Nick Wilson is an award-winning director, cinematographer and editor born in Montreal. Directing credits include TV documentaries and series such as “Last Seen Alive” (DiscoveryID/Cineflix) and “Prince of Pot: The US vs Marc Emery” (CBC); cinematography credits include numerous documentaries such as “Grandma Knows Best” (BRAVO), “Shadow Girl” (TVO/BritDoc) as well as hundreds of short-form digital docs for the Ontario Government, the 2010 Winter Olympics, H.P., MTV, and numerous other private clients.
